We are excited to have local dentists and dental specialists share advancements in their fields as well as all things learned on their life and practice journeys to date. All of the women listed below will be contributing to some or all of the lecture sessions.

JENNIFER SMITH

Orthodontist and Personal Development Junky
Dr. Jennifer Smith has been practicing orthodontics in Calgary since 2009. Her DDS is from U of A 2004 and she completed her orthodontic residency at The University of Michigan in 2009.

Jennifer has lectured to dentists and dental specialists about Invisalign, accelerated orthodontics, practice management, and team communication tools. She is passionate about teaching others how she doubled the size of her practice in 5 years and created an amazing culture in the office where she loves to work.
​
She is an early adopter of technology and is constantly innovating the way that she does orthodontics. Patient comfort, convenience and excellent results are at the core of her decision-making.
KARI BADWI

BABY TOOTH PEDIATRIC DENTISTRY
Dr. Kari Badwi is committed to inspiring a generation of children who are happy going to the dentist. This is why she became a pediatric dentist and why she continues to enjoy coming to work every day.
Dr. Badwi was born and raised in Calgary, AB. After receiving her dental degree from New York University in 2004, she then completed a one-year General Practice Residency in Buffalo, NY followed by two years of postgraduate studies at The Women and Children’s Hospital of Buffalo where she received her specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry. She returned home in 2007 and opened her private community practice specializing in Pediatric Dentistry.
Currently, Dr. Badwi is the Division Chief for Pediatric Dentistry for the AHS Calgary zone.
Dr. Badwi’s goal continues to be to create outstanding patient experiences and she believes that with a little love, we can all be more courageous!


ANGELA DEMETER

SOUTH CALGARY PERIO
Dr. Angela Demeter grew up in Ontario and obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto. After completion of a General practice hospital residency in New York City, she continued her postgraduate education at the University of British Columbia in the Graduate Periodontics & Implant Surgery program. She received her Specialty degree in Periodontics & Masters in Craniofacial Science in 2010.
Angela has served as an Associate Clinical Professor at UBC. She has mentored numerous study clubs and has lectured in CE courses on periodontal procedures and dental implants.
Outside of work, Angela enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children. She loves the outdoors, especially swimming, camping, cycling and sup yoga.
DENA SAWCHUK

IMPACT ORTHODONTICS
Dr. Dena Sawchuk was born and raised in Calgary, AB. She attended the University of Alberta for her Doctor of Dental Surgery, a one-year General Practice Residency and to obtain her speciality in Orthodontics, returning to Calgary to practice in 2017.
Dena aims to create positive change and instil confidence in her patients by becoming a part of a very personal journey, transforming smiles while making comfort and efficiency her top priority. She utilizes new technology to improve both the orthodontic experience and clinical results.
Outside of clinic, Dena stays busy with her husband and 2 young children. She loves spending her time with them outdoors camping, hiking and biking.


DANIELLE CASSIDY
ASSOCIATE DENTIST
Dr. Danielle Cassidy grew up in rural Alberta. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Medical Sciences and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2013. After graduating, she returned to Calgary and has practiced as a general dentist in Calgary and the surrounding area.
Dr. Cassidy enjoys all aspects of dentistry but especially enjoys working with families and children. She is committed to providing dental care in a comfortable and relaxed environment. She works with a great team who make coming to work fun. They’ve even managed to convince patients that coming to the dentist can be fun.
Outside of the clinic, she spends her time with her husband, their 2 small children and their recently adopted bunny. Her husband was not in favor of the bunny adoption but is learning to live with the compromise. The Cassidy’s love to get outside and spend most weekends in the mountains.
